Why get a private assessment?
Plenty of adults reach their thirties, forties or fifties still wondering why ordinary things feel harder than they seem to be for everyone else. Waiting to find out has become the hardest part.
The wait is real, and it is documented. The NHS England ADHD Taskforce reported in November 2025 that some people wait more than two years for an ADHD assessment, and that in some areas waiting times have grown to between ten and fifteen years.

This is a self-pay service for adults aged 18 and over, anywhere in the UK. You can refer yourself. You do not need to see your GP first, and there is no waiting list to join.

What adult ADHD can look like
ADHD in adults rarely looks like the version most people picture. It often shows up quietly, and it often shows up as exhaustion.
Difficulty starting or finishing tasks, alongside periods of intense focus on other things
Restlessness, or a constant sense of mental busyness that does not switch off
Feeling permanently behind and worn out, despite working hard to keep up
A pattern that has been there since childhood, not something that started recently
Emotional responses that feel harder to regulate than you would like
Being easily distracted by noises, thoughts, notifications or things happening around you
Losing track of time, deadlines and belongings
Impulsive decisions, spending or speech
Finding it hard to plan, prioritise or organise day-to-day life
None of these are proof of ADHD. Every one of them can also be explained by anxiety, depression, poor sleep, burnout, trauma or simply a period of too much. That overlap is precisely why a proper clinical assessment matters, and why we will not tell you what you have from a checklist.

Some services quote a lower headline figure, then charge for the report, the testing or a second appointment once you are already committed. This is the whole thing. If your assessment turns out to need more clinical time than expected, that is our problem, not your bill.

If you do go on to medication, the assessment and the psychiatric appointment together come to £815. We would rather you saw that figure now than found it out afterwards.
What happens after your diagnosis
This is where most assessment services stop, and where people get stuck. At Bossa, whatever you need next is already part of the same team, on the same record.
If you want to explore medication
Medication is prescribed by a psychiatrist, not a psychologist, so your psychologist refers you internally for a psychiatric assessment. No waiting list and no repeating your history, because it is the same team and the same record. Our clinical pharmacists then look after titration and reviews from £55.
If you want practical support
We also offer optional therapy sessions for managing ADHD symptoms, building coping strategies and improving day-to-day functioning. Diagnosis is a starting point, not the whole answer.

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You self-refer directly, and it takes less than 5 minutes to start.
Do I have to do the collateral interview?
We arrange one wherever possible, because a lifelong perspective from someone who knows you well strengthens the assessment. If there is nobody suitable available, tell us on your triage call and we will talk through the options before you commit to anything.
What if I am not diagnosed with ADHD?
You still receive a full report explaining what was assessed, what was found and what the clinician thinks would help. For a lot of people that is genuinely useful, because it either rules something out or points at what is actually going on. You are paying for a thorough assessment, not for a particular answer.
Can I use my insurance?
Possibly, depending on your plan. See how claiming works with Vitality or WPA, or ask us on your free triage call. If you are with Vitality, you need to name your chosen Bossa clinician during the claim.
Will my GP accept the diagnosis?
You will receive a comprehensive diagnostic report you can share with your GP, and we can send a letter to them within 48 hours of your consultation. Whether an individual GP or NHS trust will enter a shared care agreement for medication is always their decision, so we would encourage you to check with your practice before you start.
